Just one month ago, my daughter moved into her very first apartment. She worked incredibly hard to save up and furnish it, excited to begin this new chapter of her life. Yesterday, devastating flooding changed everything. After the heavy rains, her apartment ended up under approximately 5½ feet of water. Nearly everything she owned was destroyed. Furniture, clothes, personal belongings, and the things she worked so hard to buy are now gone. To make matters even more heartbreaking, all of this happened on her birthday. We are beyond grateful that she and her boyfriend made it out safely. That is what matters most. While possessions can be replaced, lives cannot. We thank God they were able to escape.
