Help my daughter, India to HEAR again.
Donation protected
I would love to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for everyone's help and donation that make India's surgery possible, we are grateful.
Every parent's worst nightmare when their children get sick and they feel helpless.
In the middle November 2018, Indi had some terrible ear-aches and high fever that made me take her to our GP, whom I've trusted. After looking into her ears, he prescribed some Penicillin (without waiting for any swab results!) and told me to give her Neurofen, for the temperature.
We went home and I've followed this protocol, my heart was breaking to see Indi in so much pain, waiting for the antibiotics to kick in.
Unfortunately, it didn't happen, because we got the wrong type, her infection was not responding to Penicillin at all! Took few days to realised that, when eventually both of India's eardrums ruptured and her pain subsided immediately. We went back to the GP, who told us to wait, as eardrums can heal themselves with time. Still trusting, we've followed his advice, while Indi's hearing reduced substantially. We've waited few weeks, before we went back to see another GP and then, our year long ordeal began.
Long story short, we've been directed from Specialist to Specialist, hearing tests, swabs, till finally, I've found a Private Surgeon in Sydney, who was willing to do a surgery, without cutting India's ear up, using a new technique with only a patch.
This procedure would only restore her right eardrum, as the left eardrum has totally disappeared, and requires a more complicated surgery in the future.
The saddest part of the story is that Indi has been going through so much suffering, both physically and emotionally.
She's has become socially withdrawn as a result of not hearing well, missed so much in school, she has been teased, because of her leaky ears, and couldn't go to the beach or the pools, as we couldn't risk infections.
As a single Mum with hardly any family support, I've tried to keep up with all the medical bills, but financing this surgery is really stretching my limits.
We could wait on the public list, but that would mean ONE MORE YEAR of suffering for Indi, and I believe She deserves better than that!
So, in my deepest Faith, I'm reaching out for help, dear Family and Friends, would you please help India to have her ear surgery on the 6th of December 2019. (It's already been postponed from the 8th of November, because of the lack of finances.)
We are grateful for any amount you can comfortably part with, and sharing this post within your circle of Friends on social media.
God Bless You All!
With Love & Hope,
India & Timi Barnes
