Help My Daughter Recover After a Violent Assault at Work
My daughter went to work expecting it to be just another ordinary day. Instead, it became one of the most traumatic experiences of her life.
While working at Hard Rock Cafe in Bayside Marketplace in Miami, she was violently attacked by a customer. Without warning, he shoved her to the ground with such force that she was thrown backward and fell to the ground. Since no one helped her, she followed the guy to take pictures of him and while doing so he attacked her again breaking her teeth and she hit her head on the ground, creating a concussion. The physical injuries were only the beginning.
In the days that followed, she suffered severe headaches, dizziness, nausea, difficulty concentrating, sensitivity to light and noise, memory problems, and overwhelming fatigue. After being evaluated in the emergency room, she was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome—a condition that can take weeks or even months to recover from and requires specialized neurological care.
As a young college student who works to support herself, this has turned her life upside down. She is unable to work normally, is struggling with everyday tasks, and now faces medical appointments, specialists, imaging, therapy, dental reconstruction, medications, and the uncertainty of how long her recovery will take.
While we continue fighting to get her the treatment she needs, the medical bills and other expenses continue to grow.
Thankfully, the man responsible was identified, arrested, and is now facing felony battery charges. We are grateful that law enforcement acted quickly, but the legal process will take time. In the meantime, my daughter needs help now so she can focus on healing instead of worrying about how to pay for her bills and the care she desperately needs.
If you are able to contribute, no matter the amount, your generosity will help cover:
* Medical copays, diagnostic testing, and medications
* Physical and cognitive rehabilitation if needed
* Lost income while she is unable to work
* Other recovery-related expenses like transportation and food
If you are not in a position to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family would mean the world to us.
No parent ever imagines getting the phone call that their child has been violently assaulted while simply doing their job. Watching her struggle through the pain, fear, and uncertainty has been heartbreaking. She has shown incredible strength throughout this ordeal, and we are determined to help her recover fully. Her birthday is coming up soon too, so your support will for sure lift her spirits and hope.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your kindness, your prayers, your support, and for helping my daughter move forward after this senseless act of violence.
With gratitude,
Luisa
