Help My Daughter Fight Kidney Failure at Just 18 Years Old
On Wednesday, my 18-year-old daughter traveled to Panama City to enjoy her first vacation of the year with her partner and their family. What was supposed to be a relaxing and joyful getaway quickly turned into something no parent is ever prepared for.
Late Friday night, she began experiencing severe chest pain and shortness of breath. She was rushed to the ER, and after a series of tests, we received devastating news —she has bilateral pneumonia, high blood pressure, and her bloodwork showed that she is in end-stage kidney failure.
As soon as I got the call, I hit the road and drove through the night. I’ve been by her side in Florida ever since. Doctors started dialysis immediately, and while her numbers began to improve, they have now spiked again. She is currently undergoing another round of dialysis, and we’re waiting for further labs and guidance from her care team. A kidney biopsy is being scheduled to determine the extent of the damage and whether a transplant will be necessary.
We are still without clear answers, and the uncertainty is overwhelming.
I’ve created this GoFundMe because so many people have asked how they can help — and the truth is, we need help. Her income helps cover her apartment, her partner, and their two dogs. With no clear timeline for returning home to Nashville, we’re facing not just a medical crisis, but a financial one as well.
I never imagined having to make this kind of request, but I am humbly setting my pride aside and asking for any support — whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or a share of this page.
No mother should have to watch her child suffer like this. I’m holding on to faith, but I’d be lying if I said this hasn’t shaken me to my core. We don’t know what the road ahead looks like, but I know she doesn’t have to walk it alone. Every little bit helps, and we are so deeply grateful for your love, kindness, and support.
