Help My Daughter and her Wife Save their Home

My name is Barbara Somers and I've created this page to help my daughter and her wife, Shannon & Christina. Their town of Boulder Creek, CA and the rest of the Santa Cruz Mountains were devastated by the storms this last winter. The flooding caused from several atmospheric rivers raged their community causing so much damage including to their home.

They live on a private road and their house is directly underneath the cul-de-sac. On January 8th, 2023, the road above their home washed out causing their retaining wall to fail. The erosion caused a mud slide and washed down straight to the front door. We were able to dig a trench to deter the water away from the home. Luckily, avoiding any mud from entering the home.

Shannon & Christina are new home owners, they run a small photo business together. The devastation from this disasters caused alot of stress and depression on the girls. Besides the retaining wall, their entire downstairs of the home was flooded and the floors and the be repaired. But they always continued to work through it and keep a smile.

Their homeowners insurance does not cover this and they have tirelessly working with FEMA for disaster assistance. Although they have received some, they still need some major help; they have tried everything and really didn't want to ask for help. Shannon and Christina have been working on removing the stones, tired and dirt themselves so that they can minimize some of the clean-up cost. It's been months and months and the fall and winter and among us, reminding us that if not repaired soon, they will lose their home.

How the money will be used:

They already found a licensed contractor that will be doing the work and can do this in a timely manner.

We know the world is full of huge problems and issues. My girls have been working so hard and are the best humans I know. Seeing how much this has affected their mental health is hard to see. They've been taking care of running their own business, investing hours and hours of repairs that they are capable of doing. However, this job is needing big machinery and time is running out.

All money will go directly to Shannon & Christina, which will then be paid to The Landscape Company who will be doing the repairs.
