Help My Daddy David

My name is Stephanie and I am trying to care for my daddy, David Miller.  It is almost March 2021 and my daddy's declining health began this past Thanksgiving 2020.  I became aware as I arrived in town for Thanksgiving, only to find out that I could not visit my daddy because he had been hospitalized and was unable to walk and could barely move.  Over the past weeks both legs, all the way up to his hips had become swollen, purple and black. The hospital said this had begun from a condition known as Venous Stasis Dermatitis.  It had become so bad that it was now threating the life of my daddy.  He was on an antibiotic drip, but demanded to be released after 2 days due to fear of the mounting medical bills.  Upon release, I had to care for him, constantly changing bandages and dressings from his back, down to his feet.

Now the reality came that he would need to begin seeing a series of doctors to get to the root cause of the issue.  His first series of visits began as once a week trips to the Wound Care Clinic.  As of today, he is still having weekly doctor visits and seeing 3 different specialists.  He should be better, but now his right leg has began opening up with more ulcers and he can not stand longer than 5 minutes at a time.

All of this going on is more than enough stress, but here is the part causing me to reach out to each of you for help.  I live 4 hours away with my husband and 3 children.  Our family of 5 currently has 1 income and 1 car.  My daddy, David, has worked carpentry his entire life, being paid cash and never having insurance.  He has lived alone for the last 26 years.  Now that my daddy is unable to work, he is unable to pay bills, have groceries and of course pay for medical bills.   My husband and I have, by the grace of God, been able to arrange for me to come back and forth to care for him, have him treated & make sure he has a home, electric and food,  but it has become increasingly difficult to do so considering our limited resources.

I have applied for my daddy to get governmental help, but as of yet, nothing has been approved.  I humbly ask with a heavy heart that if you are able to help in any possible way, to please do so.  It has now became nearly impossible for me to continue to make sure he has the care he needs.  I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart.
