Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for support for my dad, who has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. As his daughter, it’s incredibly difficult to see someone so strong and hardworking face something like this—but I know he won’t face it alone.

My dad lives in a rural community where access to specialized care is limited. The treatment he needs is only available in St. John’s, which is about four hours away from his home. Because of this, he will need to temporarily relocate and stay close to the hospital for the duration of his treatment. This means covering the cost of accommodations, travel, meals, and other daily expenses while he is away from home.

To make things even more challenging, we live in a different province. While we want nothing more than to be there with him every step of the way, we’re unable to provide the day-to-day, in-person support he needs during this time. That makes it even more important that he has the resources to stay somewhere safe, comfortable, and close to care.

On top of these challenges, my dad will be unable to work during his treatment and recovery, resulting in a loss of income at a time when expenses are at their highest.
