Help my dad through his 4th round of Cancer!
Donation protected
Hi everyone, meet my dad Antonio (known to many as Tony). He will be 64 this October. He is a loving husband, great father and grandfather. If you can’t believe it he is on his 4th go around with cancer. This disease is nothing new to my family, as my mother also battled & passed due to complications of cancer.
My father and mother came to the United States from Brazil in 1990 in their 30s with 2 young kids & cleaned houses for over 25 years to support our family. I have never seen my father ask for help or take a handout. I don’t remember my father never not working, some of my earliest memories is of going to work with him. My father taught me the value of hard work & kindness. He has always been one to help others, so I am asking for help on his behalf.
In 2014, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and luckily found a clinical trial that saved his life. With various medications, radiation and surgery it ultimately saved his life. Hopefully his participation will be able to help others with this horrible disease in the future.
A few years after being cancer free, it came back as Bladder Cancer. On he went with more chemo, radiation and a life altering surgery this time. Due to the location and size of the tumor in his bladder doctors had to remove his bladder completely. He now will live with an ostomy bag for the rest of his life, but he hasn’t let that slow him down.
Just when we thought you couldn’t have the same cancer twice with the organ removed, we were proven wrong. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer again. This time in the tissue surrounding his now non-existent bladder. So off he went for more treatment…
Now, A few years later he is battling blood cancer and is again going through chemo but this time he needs a bone marrow transplant. He hasn’t been able to work for a few years due to treatments and receives a small amount of disability once a month. My step mother still works as a house cleaner but is also his full-time caregiver, so hours are limited. After my father receives his bone marrow transplant (fingers crossed we find a match) he won’t be able to leave his house for at least a year while he rebuilds his immune system.
So I’m here asking for help, he needs funds to help him get through this horrible time. Between having to undergo significant dental work to avoid any possible complications and him and my step mother not being able to work full time, anything will you all are able to provide will be a huge help to relieve the burden and stress behind figuring out where he’ll find the money to pay all the bills.
I had no idea what to set the goal at, so again any amount will be a huge help!
