Help My Dad Stay in His Home After a Lifetime of Giving

Help Me Support the Dad Who Gave Everything

I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’m reaching out with all the hope I have—for my Dad. He is the strongest man I know. A U.S. Marine. A provider. A protector. A husband of 55 years. And a father who never let us feel the weight of his own struggles, even when I now know how heavy they were.

He gave everything—not just to us, but to anyone in need. Even when we had little, he gave what he could—and often what he couldn’t. He wore the same clothes so we could have new shoes for school. He went without so we never had to.

When my mom got sick, he didn’t give up — he worked well into his 80s to care for her, even as it took a toll on his own health and peace of mind. And when finances grew tight, he was forced to stop paying on her life insurance policy. It was hard—but he carried on, quietly and faithfully.

As her illness worsened, he never left her side. He would sit by her hospital bed for hours, holding her hand, whispering that everything would be okay and not to be afraid. When she passed, his heart shattered. He still wears his wedding ring every day—and always will. He misses their laughter, the dancing in the kitchen, the way she looked at him like a teenage girl in love. He told me once that he even misses when she would get mad at him. She was his best friend, his partner, the love of his life.

To survive, he sold their home. But what little he received just wasn’t enough.

He’s renting a small place now. No income. No life insurance. No backup plan. Just a man trying to keep going without the woman he shared everything with for over five decades.

There’s no way I’ll ever be able to thank my Dad enough for his presence in our lives—especially for his example: showing us the difference between right and wrong, between giving up and having faith, between indifference and compassion—and what loyalty really means. I’m so proud to be his daughter, and so grateful to call him a friend. We’ve built a bond that nothing can break.

But even with everything I can give emotionally, I can’t even come close to meeting his needs financially. He’s now facing the fear that he may need to leave his home again unless help comes soon. So, with a full heart and tears in my eyes, I’m asking for help—for the man who never asked for anything.

If you can donate—or even just share this page—you’ll be helping to bring peace to someone who’s spent his life giving it to others. And you’ll be helping a daughter honor her Dad with a special gift of love and devotion.

Whether it’s a few dollars or a larger gift, every single contribution truly makes a difference—and is received with deep gratitude.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
