Hi Everyone, my name is Carla Valvano-Sinski.
My dad has been through more than any person should ever have to endure. In 2007, he was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a cancer that forever changed his life. Since then, he’s faced countless surgeries, 30 days of radiation treatments along with 5 days of Cyber Knife Radiation, and reconstructive procedures — each one taking a little more from him, but never his strength or spirit. Now, leaving him to face life with only one eye after all of this.
Over the years, he’s had major MOHS surgeries to remove the cancer tissue, which includes: Total Orbital Exenteration (total removal of the eye), and his sinus cavity as well. He’s gone through skin grafting and reconstructive work using tissue from his thigh just to rebuild what the cancer took away. Despite everything, he’s kept fighting — showing strength, courage, and faith through unimaginable pain.
Now, years later, my dad faces a new challenge. The cancer treatments and surgeries have severely damaged his teeth and jaw, leaving him in pain and unable to eat properly. He desperately needs extensive dental reconstruction — work that insurance won’t cover, but that’s essential for him to live comfortably and regain his confidence.
Recently, he thought he found help through a loan, but it turned out to be a scam. Not only did he lose what savings he had, but the bank (with GREEN LETTERS hint hint) is now fighting to say it wasn’t fraud and they're and seeing he fell victim to a scam, they are denying and fighting his claim on it. After everything he’s been through, this setback has been heartbreaking.
My dad has always been the kind of person to help others before himself. He’s never complained, even when life has been unbearably hard. Now, we’re asking for help to give him something he truly deserves — relief from pain and the chance to smile again.
Since all of this, and at 73 years old, his wife decided she no longer wanted to be married to my handicapped father and divorced him, he is now living alone with his faithful companion Luna, a loving, beautiful White Retriever.
Any amount helps, and every share makes a difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading his story and for helping us bring some light back into his life.
With Love and Gratitude,
Carla
