Climbing Mt. Fuji in Memory of Mark

Hi, my name’s Jesse, and Mark Snowdon was my dad. Sadly, my dad was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease about a decade ago and recently passed away because of the disease. He passed away peacefully at the age of only 57, but his was a long struggle, and it was hard to watch him decline.

Huntington’s was a cruel disease for somebody like Mark, who was a dignified man with an adventurous spirit. He loved hiking, climbing, mountaineering, and generally being outdoors, even just to sit and enjoy the air. He had a long love for Japan, especially its history, art, geography and spirituality, and had a wish to one day to climb Mount Fuji. He never got the chance to go before he passed.

So I’d like to take something of my dad’s to Mount Fuji myself, hike it all the way to the summit, and share that special moment with him. I’d like to say he finally made it there, even if it’s only in spirit.

I’ve pledged to smash my fitness goals so that I can get to the summit this year.

That part I can do with my own determination, but I need some help raising the funds to go. I’d like to achieve his dream by his birthday in October.

I’m saving up hard to fund as much of it myself as I can, but if you have anything at all to spare to help me get Mark to the top of Mount Fuji, I’d be so grateful.

Any funds received will go towards flights to Japan (£1119 direct) and the cost of the trip to Mount Fuji (£367) = £1486 total fundraiser. Any amount is welcome, even if all you can spare right now is small.
