Leoncavallo Hurricane Ida Flood Damage Fund
SUMMARY:
Hi there. Im raising money for my family who have experienced damaged to our home in New Rochelle, New York due to flash floods caused by Hurricane Ida. Their insurance does not cover flash flooding and only covers hurricane damage if it surpasses $30,000. I am raising money to cover the cost of reparations, flood proofing, flood insurance, and offset the cost of lost items which have been damaged irreparably. Above all, I hope to raise their spirits through the power of unified support and help them restore their home.
THE DAMAGE:
The water came through the toilet, so there is 4 feet of sewage in the basement. They rent out their home as a primary source of income. Now that it has been damaged by the hurricane they are out of business until it is repaired.
Many of the items which have been lost / damaged were irreplaceable: items of great nostalgic importance that he have been collected over a lifetime. Instruments from around the world, a record collection he had been building since my father has built since he was a teenager in 1980s NYC, archives of tapes & recordings from college, record players, speakers, microphones, instruments, amps, electronic devices which cannot be repaired.
The house is located at the bottom of two hills making it high risk for flooding. Now, with climate change and the extreme weather changes it is bringing, it is extremely likely this will not be the last flood to affect my family.
Without insurance coverage, it is unfeasible for my family to cover the cost of damage repairs, flood proofing, flood insurance, and replace his lost items.
