On April 22, 2026, my father was involved in a devastating bus accident in Amealco, Mexico, while traveling to visit my grandparents in Jalpan. The bus crashed into a tree, and tragically, ten people lost their lives. My dad suffered internal injuries and a broken arm, and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. During surgery, he went into cardiac arrest and had to be transferred to a larger hospital equipped to handle his critical condition. Over the course of his treatment, he experienced six cardiac arrests and was placed in a coma to stabilize his heart. Thankfully, he woke up without any neurological issues, but his recovery has been long and difficult. On April 29, his lung collapsed, requiring connection to a machine to help him breathe. He is still recuperating and now receives rehabilitation therapy. My mom has been by his side every step of the way, helping with therapy, feeding, walking, bathing, and all his medical and basic needs. Both my parents have had to stop working at their store and my dad’s side jobs, making it hard to cover daily expenses and medical costs.
The funds raised will go directly toward medical supplies not covered by insurance, such as oxygen tubing, nasal cannula, hydrocolloid bandages, and special food for his strict diet. We also need help with living expenses like food, water, and daily costs. Since my parents' house is two hours away from the hospital and rehabilitation center, they had to rent an apartment closer to the hospital while my dad is still in need of those services. Every bit of support will help my dad continue his recovery and ease the burden on my mom, who is doing everything she can to care for him.
The world is very hard and expensive, especially now, but any support to help my dad and mom with this situation would be incredibly appreciated and would mean the world to me and my family. My dad got a second chance to live and I am so grateful. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped already; I hope to be there for you when you need me.
