We’re reaching out during one of the most difficult times our family has faced. My dad, 78, has worked hard his entire life—over 40+ years in the workforce—before retiring in 2020. But retirement hasn’t been restful. Instead, it’s been a long road of medical challenges, financial hardship, and setbacks no one should have to face in their golden years.
After undergoing carotid artery surgery, he’s now preparing for another high-risk procedure—brain aneurysm surgery—while also navigating failing lung and organ function. On top of this, a botched glaucoma surgery left him partially blind in one eye, taking away his ability to drive and work, even when he tried to return to the workforce just to stay afloat.
Now, he and my mom are struggling to make this move possible on only his Social Security check and my mom’s modest income. They’ve held on as long as they could, but the bills are piling up, and their home—while a source of comfort—requires extensive repairs and is being sold at a loss. After paying off the mortgage, they won’t see a cent from the sale, and they still need to cover the cost of moving cross-country to be near us in California.
We’re helping as much as we can, but the truth is: we can’t do it alone.
We’re asking for your support—any amount helps—to cover:
* Medical expenses
* Housing and moving costs
* Essential support to get them safely to California without added stress
Your kindness will help give my dad a fighting chance to recover, be close to family, and finally find some peace and stability after years of hardship. Thank you for anything you can give.
