Help My Dad Breathe Again: Support His Lifesaving Transplant
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Kayla, and many of you may know my father, Matt. He is currently in the UCSF lung transplant program, fighting for a second chance at life.
My dad has been battling illness for years, and after an ICU stay in October 2023 followed by a year of rehabilitation, his health has continued to decline. Right now, his lung capacity is so limited that he can only exhale the equivalent of a soda can’s worth of air. This journey has been filled with endless obstacles, and he now requires around-the-clock care to get strong enough for transplant.
To do our part, my dad and I are committing to an at-home program to prepare him for the procedure. However, there are critical needs we can’t meet alone. One major hurdle is the dental work he must complete before being listed for transplant, which comes at a significant cost.
The good news is that he is an excellent candidate and I believe, more than deserving of this chance at life. We meet with the surgeon next month, and at that point, he will officially be listed for transplant. We need help covering expenses and making sure we can focus on his health without financial worry.
Not everyone expects to need a lung transplant. If you’d like to support us, please consider sending positive thoughts, sharing this post, or donating. Every bit of help means the world to us.
Thank you for being a part of my dad’s fight—we will never forget your kindness.
