Hey, I’m Sean, and I’m starting this fundraiser to help support my Dad for the weeks he will going through chemotherapy and radiation. He has esophageal cancer and will be going for 5 weeks of chemo and radiation before getting a procedure to remove the cancer.
Dad initially heard about his diagnosis when he went in for a endoscopy to see why he could hardly swallow or keep things down and was informed he had cancer. He later got a scan that convinced the doctor that the cancer had spread and metastasized. This news was really defeating and caused so much pain for him, but especially for Rachel who learned that her husband had a deathly prognosis. They continued to look for another doctor to see about any way to help Chris, and with more tests and a second opinion from an oncologist, they learned that he believed the cancer would be operable and disagreed with the original diagnosis. This news was a huge relief for all of us and really changed our outlook on his cancer and the ability to fight this disease. Hearing the news about my dad being able to be operated on and heal was such a huge relief to me. Now he’s at the point where he and Rachel need to be strong to get through the treatment and get to be cancer free, so I wanted to start this fundraiser at a time when he really needs it.
I can’t begin to express how much my Dad means to me and how difficult this situation has been for all of us. Jehovah has given us so much peace and support, which has really been a huge comfort from the rollercoaster of emotions we all got sent on. My Dad has not just always been there for me, but he has done so much for everyone who has needed help. My dad has had a very hard life and has lost so many members of his family. This has caused him so much pain during his life, but even with everything he’s gone through, he has always put brothers and sisters first, even when he would feel terrible and deal with all of these trials.
I’m sure not everyone knew about what Dad has been going through, but that’s usually how he would want it to be. I really felt the need to open this fundraiser to ask for help from anyone who has love for him or his family to help support Rachel and him. He would never ask for help, and probably isn’t happy that I started this fundraiser, but he really needs this help. The funds will help cover him not being able to work through his treatment and recovery, not to mention the large medical bills just to treat the cancer. This whole process has caused them a huge financial burden and any amount that can be donated would help to relieve even a little bit of the stress that this disease has caused.
Thank you so much for being a friend to my Dad. I appreciate you all so much and I know Jehovah will continue to bless you for whatever you can do to help. Thank you for helping him feel loved and cared for. It really touches me so deeply to see the outpouring of love shown to my dad and his wife in this time of need.
Matthew 25:40– In reply the King will say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
