Help My Cousin Lily in Venezuela with her Fibroid Surgery!

My name is Neylin Gonzalez (Lily), and I am 32 years old. I unfortunately have to live with two long-term chronic and autoimmune conditions called rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren's syndrome. These two autoimmune deceases condition my everyday life, the first one by affecting my mobility due to the pain and pressure it causes to my joints, the second one is a rare illness that makes my eyes and mouth dry. On top of these circumstances, both compromise my immune system weakening it and making me vulnerable to further viruses and infections. Additionally, I have been recently diagnosed with uterine fibroids a type of non-cancerous tumor that grows on the inside of the womb, other than causing me great pain (alongside my autoimmune conditions), these fibroids alter my period by making it abundant, that consequently alters my iron levels causing me anemia. At this point it is very difficult to perform my daily activities which compromises my performance at work. The only solution for this type of fibroid to stop growing is surgery, that at the moment neither me nor my family can afford.

Why are we Asking for your help?

As of today, Venezuela is having a complex humanitarian crisis that includes the healthcare system. Public hospitals are not performing neither complex nor ambulatory interventions because they lack the basic utensils. Instead I am forced to look for an option in the private sector, and a surgery like this one in a private hospital is 5.000 euros. We are asking for your help because we can't afford the costs of this surgery and my long-term health and quality of life depend on it. Limiting my capacities to perform my job also put me in a vulnerable spot.

In these trying times, I would like to appeal to your kindness and support to cost this surgery that I am in desperate need of.

Leider muss ich mit zwei langfristigen chronischen und Autoimmunerkrankungen leben, die rheumatoide Arthritis und das Sjögren-Syndrom genannt werden. Diese beiden Autoimmunerkrankungen beeinflussen mein tägliches Leben, die erste durch die Schmerzen und den Druck, den sie auf meine Gelenke ausübt und meine Mobilität beeinträchtigt, die zweite ist eine seltene Krankheit, die meine Augen und meinen Mund austrocknet. Zusätzlich zu diesen Umständen schwächen beide mein Immunsystem und machen mich anfälliger für weitere Viren und Infektionen. Außerdem wurde bei mir kürzlich ein Uterusmyom diagnostiziert, eine Art gutartiger Tumor, der in der Gebärmutter wächst. Abgesehen davon, dass diese Myome mir große Schmerzen bereiten (zusätzlich zu meinen Autoimmunerkrankungen), verändern sie meine Periode, indem sie sie verstärken, was folglich meine Eisenwerte verändert und Anämie verursacht. In diesem Stadium ist es sehr schwierig, meine täglichen Aktivitäten auszuführen, was auch meine Arbeitsleistung beeinträchtigt. Die einzige Lösung, um das Wachstum dieser Myome zu stoppen, ist eine Operation, die sich weder ich noch meine Familie momentan leisten können.

Wir bitten um Ihre Hilfe, weil wir die Kosten für diese Operation nicht aufbringen können und meine langfristige Gesundheit und Lebensqualität davon abhängen. Die Einschränkung meiner Fähigkeiten, meinen Beruf auszuüben, bringt mich zusätzlich in eine verletzliche Lage.

Mi nombre es Neylin Gonzalez (Lily), y tengo 32 años. Desafortunadamente, tengo que vivir con dos condiciones crónicas y autoinmunes a largo plazo llamadas artritis reumatoide y síndrome de Sjögren. Estas dos enfermedades autoinmunes condicionan mi vida diaria, la primera afecta mi movilidad debido al dolor y la presión que causa en mis articulaciones, y la segunda es una enfermedad rara que hace que mis ojos y mi boca se sequen. Además de estas circunstancias, ambas comprometen mi sistema inmunológico debilitándolo y haciéndome vulnerable a otros virus e infecciones. Además, recientemente me diagnosticaron fibromas uterinos, un tipo de tumor no canceroso que crece dentro del útero. Además de causarme un gran dolor (junto con mis condiciones autoinmunes), estos fibromas alteran mi periodo haciéndolo abundante, lo que consecuentemente altera mis niveles de hierro y me causa anemia. En este momento, es muy difícil realizar mis actividades diarias y compromete mi rendimiento en el trabajo. La única solución para que este tipo de fibroma deje de crecer es la cirugía, que en este momento ni yo ni mi familia podemos pagar.

¿Por qué estamos pidiendo su ayuda?

Hasta hoy, Venezuela está atravesando una compleja crisis humanitaria que incluye el sistema de salud. Los hospitales públicos no están realizando intervenciones ni complejas ni ambulatorias porque carecen de los utensilios básicos. En su lugar, me veo obligada a buscar una opción en el sector privado, y una cirugía como esta en un hospital privado cuesta 5.000 euros. Estamos pidiendo su ayuda porque no podemos cubrir los costos de esta cirugía y mi salud y calidad de vida a largo plazo dependen de ello. La limitación de mis capacidades para realizar mi trabajo también me pone en una posición vulnerable.

En estos tiempos difíciles, me gustaría apelar a su amabilidad y apoyo para cubrir los costos de esta cirugía que necesito desesperadamente.
