My name is Alex , and I am a fourth and fifth-grade special education teacher. I am raising money to create a beautiful school community garden for my students and school.

Right now, the space by our small playground is just an empty patch of dirt. My students and I are planning to transform it into a vibrant community garden. Through this project, they'll learn the basics of gardening, understand the life cycle of a plant, and work together to build and maintain their very own green space. Additionally, the garden will become a place for students to take part in outdoor learning lessons, a quiet reading bench, and a spot to come together as a community.

A school garden offers so many benefits for all students. It's a calming, multi-sensory environment that supports their therapeutic, physical, and social development. As they take on specific jobs and care for their plants, they'll also gain independence, responsibility, and confidence.

Our school has limited to no budget for electives, so we are relying on the kindness of our community to get this project off the ground. All donations will go directly toward purchasing essential supplies, materials, and resources for the students to create their own school community and outdoor learning center. The money will go toward items like: lumber, tools, a reading bench, a hose, seeds, seedlings, and many more tools and materials that the students will need to build and decorate the garden.
