My dear childhood friend is fighting the toughest battle of his life. He has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and needs urgent surgery. Right now, he is admitted at Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet, Bangladesh.

The government hospital has told his family that they will need to wait around 2.5 months before he can get the surgery, because of a long waiting list of patients. But his condition is getting worse day by day. His family is devastated, and we fear that waiting this long could be life-threatening.

A private hospital could perform the surgery much sooner—but the cost is much higher.

• Surgery at a government hospital (after 2.5 months): 3–3.5 lac BDT (£2,150~)

• Surgery at a private hospital (immediately): 7 lac BDT (£4,300~)

We are trying to raise £4,000 to help him get treated in a private hospital as soon as possible.

His family cannot afford this. His father suffered a stroke a few years ago and can no longer work. My friend used to work in a shop to support them, but now he is bedridden and unable to provide for his family. They have no way of putting this money together on their own.

He is a kind-hearted young man who always put his family first. Now he urgently needs our help.
