Help my cat Sora to eat again..

Donation protected
I have never done anything like this before, and I am reaching out to anyone who can relate to my situation.

My cat Sora on Wednesday 28th May fell very ill after waltzing into my room and vomiting. I thought it was her usual hairball vomit, however it continued with a great amount of liquid and undigested kibble. After monitoring Sora I noticed that she had become quickly unwell with symptoms of runny nose, teary eyes, drooling and breathing/sneezing issues. I was very concerned. I gave Sora an hour after her usual dinner time as to give her stomach a break. She had zero interest in eating anything; I tried everything. Her favourite snacks. Nothing. Because of this I took her straight to the Emergency VET. They took her temperature and felt for obstructions. She seemingly was fine and might have just needed rest.

Thursday 29th May, the next day; she was very weak. I had hopes that she would feel better to eat. The Vet and some research mentioned I were to try canned tuna and boiled chicken. She didn't have any interest so I force fed her syringed tuna and water. Sora managed to have a bit but virtually had no appetite. I continued to monitor her as she managed to still go on her own to drink water and to her litter in which was all placed in my room and bathroom respectively. Part of me wished I had just taken her to the VET again but because she was feeling okay to move I was praying Sora would work up an appetite in the morning.

Friday 30th May, Sora still was not eating. I became very concerned but I had work and could not take it off again. Thankfully my partner was available and so she booked for Sora to check-in with the local VET. On arrival, they found her with a raging fever and an obstruction in her stomach. They had to call for an emergency surgery and thus she went under. Thankfully the surgery went well and they managed to get the foreign object out of Sora. They explained the obstruction was quite unusual as it was found in her large intestine so they pushed it out and removed it. It seemed like human hair and something else that was found but we all know our cats are always eating something. They kept her there post-surgery and she was on IV because of severe dehydration and anaemia. She then later that day came home to see if she would work up an appetite and my local VET recommended that she were to come in again but to their sister clinic. I still have regrets of not going to the VET on Thursday.

Sora looked terrible when she was home and was yet to be properly discharged. The clinic suggested to try again to see if Sora would feel better to eat on her own, because she needed nutrients to help with healing. At this point she had not eaten for 3 days and she was so frail and had lost so much weight. *Sora weighed 3.48kg (was already a skinny Queen)* The night came slow and she still was not improving. My partner and I could not take it and we both knew she needed to go back to the VET. We were given post care plans and a pathway to go into Emergency which we did. By now we have visited 4 clinics. I felt terrible for Sora. I felt so helpless and at this point just wanted to do anything to free her of the pain and to regain her appetite.

Sora entered the Emergency VET clinic by 12:30AM Sunday 1st June. She was barely holding up 3kg of weight. She stayed over night. In the morning I was given an update. We all knew it was coming and I agreed for Sora to get the O-Tube procedure to get nutrients directly into her. It was the only way. I would give anything and everything to keep my baby alive and well. I unfortunately did not have pet insurance. All the pet bills have racked up and it's taken me by surprise. I'm fortunate I have my partner supporting me and loving Sora as her own.

I have posted this Sunday night while waiting for an update of Sora's O-Tube procedure.

I will be forever grateful for any sort of donation and appreciate you if you have read this far. I do apologize for such a long-winded story. I do not wish this situation on anyone and hope that any who has a pet (family member) to shower them with lots of hugs and kisses. Because sometimes we don't know what will happen to our babies.
