This is for Snickers, our sweet kitty who chose us through the “cat distribution system” (he was previously a street cat) about 5 years ago. He’s quirky, lovable, and has been a constant source of comfort, especially bonded with my teen.

Recently, Snickers broke his canine tooth, which is higher up in his gums and very unlikely to come out on its own. This led to an infection. We’ve already started medication from the vet, and it’s beginning to help, but he still needs the tooth extracted to fully heal and prevent the infection from returning or causing further complications. He’s eating less, and when we try to check his tooth, he hisses — something he never does.

I work full time and care for my teen, my partner who is waiting for back surgery, and our household while managing POTS(Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), a chronic condition that can leave me bedridden during really bad flares. Stress is a major trigger, and daily life is already a challenge—so covering unexpected vet bills for Snickers is something I just can’t manage on my own.

We’ve been able to cover the initial visit, but the estimate for the full procedure—including extraction, sedation, and aftercare—is $1,200 to just over $2,000.

I’ve already applied to multiple veterinary credit programs, all of which I was denied.
