My cat is my emotional support animal and the first cat I adopted as an adult. He’s always been a shy but loving companion, and his gentle presence has helped me through so much. Lately, I’ve noticed he hasn’t been himself—he’s been unusually lethargic, his gums are pale, and he’s lost interest in playing, which is so unlike him. After rushing him to the emergency vet, I learned he has severe anemia and urgently needs a blood transfusion, an overnight stay, and ongoing care to give him the best chance at recovery.

The costs for his emergency vet visit, transfusion, hospice care, medications, and follow-up appointments are overwhelming, but I want to do everything I can to help him feel better. He means the world to me, and seeing him struggle is heartbreaking. update: after speaking to the emergency vet he does have a concerning heart murmur and may not make it. it’s $7-9k for the first night alone.
