Help my cat Perry avoid blindness

Hi everyone. My name is Samantha, and if you know me at all, then you know I love my two cats, Woody and Perry, like they're my kids. Well, recently we received some bad news: Perry, who is only about 4 years old, has cataracts in both eyes. In order to keep him from going blind, he needs surgery to remove the cataracts and install prosthetic lenses (you can read more about that here if you want to).
We've already had the consult with the ophthalmologist, and the surgery will cost somewhere between $6800 and $7200. This is unfortunately a very common price for a surgery like this, and we will be scheduling it shortly - I'll post another update when I know the exact date. In the meantime, I'd like to start raising funds so we have some breathing room with the cost. As some of you know I'm a full-time graduate student and because of that I can only work part time; my parents are strapped financially as well.
I love this cat more than anything. And I don't want him to go blind so young, not if there's something I can do about it. So I'm asking, from the bottom of my heart, that if you're able to give, you consider doing so. Even $1 helps. And if you can't contribute, please please please share this everywhere you can.
