Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for help because my beloved cat, Máni, needs knee surgery for patellar luxation grade two. This condition means his kneecap moves out of place, making it painful for him to walk, jump, and play. If left untreated, it can worsen over time, leading to arthritis and long-term mobility issues.
What Is Patellar Luxation Grade Two?
Patellar luxation happens when the kneecap (patella) doesn’t stay in its normal position within the knee joint. In grade two, the kneecap dislocates easily but can sometimes return to its place on its own. However, it causes discomfort, limping, and an increased risk of joint damage.
The Surgery
The procedure involves realigning the kneecap and securing it in place to prevent further dislocations. The vet will deepen the groove in the thigh bone where the kneecap should sit, possibly tighten or release soft tissues around the joint, and sometimes adjust the bone itself for better stability. Recovery will require careful monitoring, but the surgery will give Máni the best chance at a pain-free life.
Why I Need Help
I live on disability benefits due to chronic illness and already had to cover Máni’s dental surgery and vaccinations in January. Unfortunately, I can’t afford this unexpected surgery on my own. Máni means the world to me, and I want to give him the care he deserves.
Any donation, no matter how small, would help immensely. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser would also make a huge difference. Thank you so much for your kindness and support!
With love,
Julie & Máni
