Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Anton, and I’ve been working in the USA for the past three years. Today, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and hopeful spirit — to ask for your support in saving my brother-in-law’s life.
My brother-in-law (my sister’s husband) was diagnosed with Leukemia about 2 months ago. Since then, our family’s world has turned upside down.
He and my sister were married just two years ago, full of hope and dreams for the future. They were building a beautiful life together and were blessed with a baby girl who is now just 7 months old. This was supposed to be a joyful time in their lives — raising their little girl and building their family. But instead, they find themselves fighting for his life while caring for their infant daughter. They live in Sri Lanka and have been receiving treatment there since the diagnosis.
Leukemia treatment usually happens in phases:
1. Intense chemotherapy to kill all the existing white blood cells.
2. Waiting for the body to recover and rebuild healthy white cells.
3. A bone marrow transplant if the body doesn’t recover on its own.
Right now, he is in Phase 2, but unfortunately, his white blood cell count has not recovered as expected. His doctors have now recommended moving forward with a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible, which is his best chance of survival. So, they are planning to travel to India in the upcoming week for his bone marrow transplant.
So far, our family has managed to cover his medical and hospital expenses, which have already totaled more that 10 million LKR (~$38,000 USD) (Please refer the attached hospital bill). But the next phase of his treatment is beyond what we can afford on our own.
We now need your help to cover the remaining costs, which include:
• Doctor charges for the treatment taken till now (which is not yet provided by the doctor)
• Ongoing hospitalization until the transplant.
• The bone marrow transplant itself, which we plan to do in India (since Sri Lanka lacks the required facilities), including post-treatment care and recovery.
• The doctors estimate the transplant and post-care will cost around $45,000 USD – Please refer the attachments for the estimate given by Manipal Hospital (India).
We are doing everything we can, but we’ve reached a point where we cannot bear the rest of the financial burden alone.
This young couple has just started their journey together, with so much hope for their future and their baby girl. I humbly ask for your kindness, prayers, and whatever support you can offer — no amount is too small. Every dollar brings us one step closer to giving him a second chance at life and to ensuring that this little girl grows up with her father by her side.
If you are unable to donate, please share this with your friends and family. Your support — in any form — means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude and hope,
Anton & Family
