This past weekend, my brother Ricardo’s life changed in an instant. He was struck by a car on the Dallas North Tollway going at 70mph, suffering a fractured spine and hip. Ricardo is currently unable to walk without assistance and cannot put any pressure on his left side due to his hip and pelvic injury. He now relies on a walker or wheelchair to move around, and living alone has made adjusting to this new reality even more challenging.
On top of his injuries, Ricardo also lost his car in the accident. Unfortunately, his insurance will not cover the total loss, adding another layer of stress and uncertainty to his recovery. While Ricardo is able to work remotely, his injuries have made it impossible for him to travel for work as he sometimes needed to do. This has made working more difficult and added to the stress of his recovery. As an entrepreneur, Ricardo has always worked hard to support himself, but his health insurance only covers part of the physical therapy and treatments he urgently needs. Our family is doing everything we can, but there is a significant gap we need to fill to make sure Ricardo gets the care he deserves.
Doctors expect Ricardo’s recovery to take at least 6 months of intensive rehabilitation. During this time, he will need ongoing physical therapy, medical treatments, help with basic living expenses, and support for transportation needs. Every dollar raised will go directly toward his medical bills, therapy, daily needs, and helping him regain his independence. Ricardo is someone who would never ask for this himself, so I’m reaching out on his behalf. Your support—whether through a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser—means the world to us. Thank you for helping my brother walk again and giving him hope for a brighter future.
