My name is Dragoș, and I am raising funds for my brother, Valentin.
His struggle with drug addiction began 12 years ago, after getting involved with the wrong group of friends. What started casually quickly became a serious addiction. When the money ran out, he began stealing from our own home to support his habit.
During that time, my father worked from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day to support our family, while my mother tried to hold everything together. After about two years, Valentin left home.
He then spent nearly five years living on the streets, begging to survive and feed his addiction.
In 2016, he moved to England, where the same pattern continued—sleeping on the streets, in stairwells, even in underground canals.
At one point, a stranger posted about him on Facebook asking for help. Many people came together, and because of that support, Valentin managed to return home, stop using drugs, and rebuild his life. He found a partner, started a family, and during that time his daughter was born. For almost five years, his life was stable.
Sadly, after his partner left and took their child, Valentin was deeply affected. Unable to cope with the loss, he relapsed.
For the past 1 year and 8 months, he has been living on the streets again. Every few months, he comes home for no more than a week, then disappears.
Throughout all these years, our family has never given up on him.
We have traveled over 300 km to find him more than 50 times, searched entire cities, and often returned home without finding him.
Today, his situation is even more critical. At only 28 years old, Valentin has two heart stents and has already suffered two pre-heart attacks. He urgently needs professional medical and psychological help.
I don’t want his daughter to grow up without a father.
I don’t want my parents to lose their son.
We love him, but love alone is no longer enough.
This fundraiser is to give Valentin a real chance at specialized treatment and a stable life.
In Romania, there are almost no real public programs dedicated to drug rehabilitation. Government support is extremely limited.
We managed to find only two private clinics:
Social MED
Clinica Independent
The costs start at around 189€ per day — an amount I don’t earn even in four days of work.
That is why I’m asking for help.
If anyone knows, owns, or works with a clinic that can help my brother — or is willing to offer guidance, reduced-cost treatment, or support — please reach out.
We are not asking for comfort or luxury.
We are asking for a chance to save a life.
