Hi everyone! My name is Nicole and per so many of my friends advice, I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my brother, Nick, whose apartment was completely flooded due to the storms and flooding in Fort Lauderdale, FL. On April 12th we got a horrifying call that Nicks home was flooding and he was trapped inside with water up to his knees. His apartment was flooded with around 2-3 feet of water rendering everything in his home ruined. Along with his home, his car was also flooded and his prized possession, an FSU motorcycle. My brother is special needs and does not work, my mother his caretaker, takes care of all his bills and expenses. Having a spot of his own and a means of transportation was a huge milestone for our family. Now with everything ruined, we will be starting Nick from scratch. He is completely distraught as is my mother, who as a paraprofessional for a special needs classroom is on a low salary. This is a huge financial hit to my mother as she is also caretaker to my grandmother. His landlord did not have flood insurance and my brother did not have renters insurance and as of now his place is deemed unsafe to live in. My mother lives in a senior citizen community and Nick is unfortunately not allowed to stay with her.
Any and all donations will be used to find housing, purchase all new belongings from clothing to furniture, and purchase a new car. The support would mean the world to him and our family.
We are grateful to God that my brother is safe. Material things can be replaced, a life cannot. We are trusting that God will deliver us from this hardship. To know Nick is to love him. He is always ready to help anyone in need, especially strangers! He would take his shirt off his back for anyone. The same goes for my mother, Claribel, who is a light in everyone's life. She is everyone's go-to person. Growing up she taught us to love the homeless and to be kind no matter what. Let's show up for both of them now.
Nick has a passion for cars and sound systems. Sadly, among everything else he lost all of his supplies that he had to start up a cooler boombox business. Something he was trying to do to help support himself.
We ask that if you are unable to donate monetarily, to please share this post. We also ask for prayer for Nicks mental health. He struggles so much and this has been absolutely devastating for him. We are also praying for those affected by this flood. We know we aren't alone in our suffering.
Thank you so much in advance for your love and support, we are so grateful. Updates and pictures to follow.
