My brother is only 28 years old, and his life changed in an instant when he fell onto the subway tracks. The accident left him with devastating injuries: he lost his right leg above the knee, and his right arm was severely damaged, resulting in the loss of his thumb and index finger. These injuries have completely altered the course of his life, and he is now facing a long, painful, and uncertain recovery.
Since the accident, he is being treated at the Bellevue Hospital and has undergone 10 surgeries, including emergency procedures to save his life, control bleeding, repair shattered bones, and prevent infection. He spent two weeks in the ICU, fighting through complications and pain with incredible strength. He is currently in the hospital’s general ward and will likely remain there for some time as doctors continue to monitor him closely.
But the road ahead is long. After his hospital stay, he will need 2–3 months of intensive inpatient rehabilitation, followed by another 2–3 months of outpatient rehab. Only after completing these steps will he be able to begin the process of being fitted for prosthetics and learning how to navigate daily life again. The physical and emotional challenges he faces are immense, but we are determined to help him regain his independence and quality of life.
The funds raised will go directly toward:
- Mounting medical and surgical bills
- Months of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation
- Future prosthetics for his leg and adaptive support for his hand
- Mobility aids, accessibility equipment, and home modifications
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Support for living expenses during his long recovery
We are reaching out to our community and beyond, hoping for support during this incredibly challenging time. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help my brother regain his independence and rebuild his life. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can provide.
