Help My Brother Rebuild After a Life-Changing Accident
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Elizabeth, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my brother, Josh. He was recently in a severe scooter accident on October 23rd at around 8am on his way to work in the Florida Keys. He was hit by a van and had to be life flighted to Miami. Our lives were forever changed that day. Josh is incredibly lucky to be alive, but he now faces a long, difficult recovery, and I’m here to share his story and ask for any help you can give.
Growing up, my brother and I have always been close. One of the things I admire most about him is his fierce independence. Anyone who knows Josh knows that he’s always been determined to live life his own way. But now, he’s facing one of the hardest struggles of his life: having to rely on others for even the most basic tasks. Due to his injuries, he’s currently unable to get out of bed or do simple things like showering, eating, or going to the bathroom on his own.
The accident left Josh with severe injuries. He broke both hips and his pelvis, fractured shoulder, fractured toes, and suffered extensive bruising on his legs, feet, arms, and hands. He’s already had surgery on his right hip and left arm, where doctors inserted metal plates and pins to stabilize his bones. He’s still hospitalized, and it’s going to take months of recovery and rehab before he can start regaining his strength and mobility.
Before the accident, Josh was thriving in the Keys, building a life that truly made him happy. He was also inseparable from his dog, Bark, who has been his constant companion and support for the last 10 years. Being separated from Bark has been heartbreaking, and part of our goal with this fund is to help cover the costs that will allow them to be reunited as soon as Josh is able.
This sudden, life-changing experience has been devastating for him, and he faces enormous physical and emotional challenges ahead. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will be a tremendous help, covering medical expenses and helping ease the financial stress during this time. It will also support those closest to him, who are doing everything they can to be by his side and assist him with his day-to-day needs.
Any donation, big or small, would mean the world to us as we navigate this difficult journey. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing Josh’s story with others. Your kindness and generosity can help him regain some independence, bring him closer to reuniting with Bark, and give him hope as he works toward recovery.
With deep gratitude,
Elizabeth
