*Jason has unexpectedly left us for a much better place with no pain*
My brother Jason is my hero. He is 38 and developmentally disabled. He lives with my parents and he works a job through far northern regional center. Recently he was having severe edema and pain. Doctors checked him out and discovered problems. My brother has a growth on his kidney that's causing high blood pressure and edema. More importantly, he has a severe aortic aneurysm in his abdomen that is life threatening. He has been scheduled for open chest surgery on October 26th. He is pretty overweight and has been working on losing weight prior to surgery to make it safer. This is a long scary surgery and he will be hospitalized at least 7 days. Due to the severity of surgery and his mental capacity my mother will need to take a week or more off work to stay at UC Davis with him. The hospital set her up at a kiwanas house but the total is still over $300, plus food and gas and the time off work. My dad just had surgery himself and is not working at this time. My mother has spent the last year caring for me through my cancer treatment. I'm looking to ease the financial obligation on them, they need the least amount of stress as possible.
