Hello, my name is Gunde, and I started this GoFundMe to help my brother, professional golfer Velten Meyer.

Velten was selected to compete on the new season of The Big Break (x Good Good), an opportunity he had worked incredibly hard for and believed could change his career.

He spent 15 days in Texas filming the show, putting his golf schedule and career on hold. He also went through a long and extremely expensive U.S. visa process specifically so he could legally compete and participate in the show.

Then, after the show had already been filmed back in April/ May, everything fell apart yesterday.

A controversial Good Good and Callaway commercial sparked massive backlash online. While we understand the decision to cancel the show, the consequences for Velten have been devastating.

He was able to work out approximately $20,000 for sponsorship deals related to the visibility on the show, which he committed toward tournament entry fees and expenses for his professional golf season this year in Europe. Because the show has now been cancelled, he has to pay MOST, IF NOT ALL of that money back that he already spent.

He also spent approximately $10,000 on the U.S. visa process required for the opportunity.

That leaves my brother facing roughly $30,000 in financial obligations, while the opportunity that was supposed to provide that income has disappeared completely.

And the hardest part is that Velten had absolutely nothing to do with the commercial. He didn’t create it, approve it, or have any say in it. He was simply a player who showed up, competed, and gave everything he had to the opportunity.

Now he is left carrying the financial consequences of a situation he had no control over.

For a professional golfer trying to fund his own career, $30,000 is overwhelming. Tournament fees, travel, equipment, coaching, and visas already make this career incredibly difficult to sustain. This setback could seriously affect Velten’s ability to continue competing at the level he has worked so hard to reach.

We are asking for your help.

Our goal is $25,000, not to erase everything that happened, but to give Velten a chance to recover and keep chasing his dream instead of having one cancelled opportunity derail years of hard work.
