I never thought I’d have to write this. In 2022, my brother’s life changed forever. At just 38, he suffered a serious cervical spinal injury that left him a quadriplegic. He spent 10 months in the hospital, had multiple surgeries, and fought harder than I can put into words.
Before his injury, my brother was always moving. He started working at 14, spent most of his time outdoors, and gave more than he got. He loved hunting, the beach, and being outside. Now, he spends most days in a small room, watching the same shows over and over. His world has become so small, and I just want to help give a little bit of it back.
A modified wheelchair would allow him to safely enjoy the outdoors again—to hunt, to feel the ocean breeze, to have a piece of his life back. But the cost is overwhelming—$55,000. It feels so out of reach, yet I know that with the kindness and generosity of others, we can make it happen. His wife, who takes care of him while also working to support their family, does all she can, but this is something we can’t do alone.
If you can help, any amount would mean the world. More than anything, I want my brother to feel the sun on his face, hear the sand crunch under his wheels, and regain the freedom he misses so much.
