Help my brother David who will be homeless Dec23
MY MOTHER AND I WANT TO SAVE MY BROTHER FROM MENTAL ILLNESS AND HOMELESSNESS
My name is Emma Burling raising money for my brother David Pius.
David is a 46 year man living in Toronto. He is being kicked out of his room he rents on Dec 23rd. David will leave with his life belongings, a couple of garbage bags! Once again his mental illness has landed him on the streets of Toronto in winter again! My heart breaks and my mothers is broken. David is on disability which amounts to $900. This is barely enough to survive! DAVID IS WORTH A CHANCE. My mom can let him stay with her for 2 weeks, that’s all her building allows. Then he can spend a couple of weeks with me. That’s all David can handle with us. His mental illness takes over and he puts him self on the streets! My mom is 76 and said to me “ I just want David to be ok before I’m gone”. And my brother said “ I just want a home” I’m hurting for them and I don’t know where else to turn. Mental illness is a struggle in every breath you take! Put that together with homelessness and now we have a tremendous disaster. My mom and my family live pay cheque to pay check. We help David as much as we can. The hurt and pain my brother deals with from childhood trauma is intense. All he has is us. He hasn’t had a single friend for over 20 years. His lifeline is me and my mom. Loneliness is pain that can not be described. However A toonie can go a long way, bus fare, coffee or a snack when your on the streets. I’m trying to get him a decent place before he goes to the streets. If he ends up there it’s worse then ever before because of COVID-19. David can’t hang out anywhere warm since everything is closed. Thank you for reading my story and I hope this has given some insight to mental illness and homelessness and you can feel some compassion next time you know someone or see some one suffering. I want to thank my husband Laurence Browner and my kids Alexis Burling, Olivia Burling and Jaimie Browner for their support and compassion in this time of need
