My name is Kate, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my brother Andrew — someone who means the absolute world to me, to our family, to his fiancée, and to every soul lucky enough to know him.

What started as what doctors thought would be a simple, routine surgery to remove his appendix has turned into one of the hardest battles. Shortly after the procedure, Andrew developed a severe infection. Within days, he was rushed back into the hospital, where doctors discovered multiple abscesses in his abdomen. Instead of recovering, his body has been fighting. Instead of going home, he’s now been in the hospital for over a week, undergoing treatments, procedures, and IV antibiotics while trying to regain his strength.

If you know Andrew, you know that his heart is bigger than just about anyone’s. He’s the kind of person who shows up without being asked — the one who will help a stranger, lift up a friend, and love his family with every fiber of his being. He’s also a deeply devoted partner to his fiancée, who’s been by his side every step of this journey, and the kind of man who stops to care for every animal he meets. Animals gravitate to him — maybe because they sense his gentleness and the kindness that pours out of him so naturally.

As his sister, I’ve watched Andrew face this with courage and resilience, but I’ve also seen the toll it’s taken. It’s terrifying to watch someone you love so deeply suffer, and even harder knowing that medical bills are piling up while he’s still in the fight. The emotional weight on our family has been heavy, and the financial burden only adds to that.

Andrew doesn’t have strong insurance, and the cost of his care has already grown beyond what any of us can manage alone. We’re setting a goal of $45,000 to help relieve that pressure and allow him to focus fully on healing. Here’s how that amount breaks down:

Hospital stay and treatments: $25,000–$30,000 (and rising daily)

Medications, imaging, and follow-up care: $7,000–$10,000

Lost income while he recovers: $5,000–$7,000

Transportation, meals, and support during recovery: $2,000+

Every dollar raised will go directly toward Andrew’s care — from hospital bills and medications to follow-up treatments and support while he’s unable to work. It will give him the chance to recover without the added stress of overwhelming medical debt.
