Update: On April 30th, our lives changed forever.

My mom suffered a massive heart attack. After multiple attempts to save her, doctors determined that she no longer has brain activity and cannot breathe on her own. She has been on life support, but was removed on 5/9. we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go peacefully, through hospice care.

This pain is unimaginable.

But another person whose heart is breaking right now is my stepdad.

My mom and stepdad were together for over 26 years. Through every storm, every setback, every struggle… he stayed by her side. He loved my mother deeply from the very beginning until the very end. When depression weighed heavily on her, he was there. When severe physical challenges stopped her from living life the way she once could, he was there. He helped care for her, comfort her, and love her through some of the hardest years of her life.

Now he is facing life without the woman who was his entire world.

My stepdad is blind and struggles with other serious physical ailments. He lives on a fixed income and is now dealing with overwhelming emotional and financial stress while preparing to say goodbye to his life partner.

Anyone who truly knows him knows this:

He loved my mom with loyalty, patience, and real dedication.

Right now, I simply want to help carry some of the weight for him during this devastating time and to help him honor mom's final wishes, which is to be buried with my brother, Lynn.
