Help my big brother Sean Clark with medical bills

Donation protected
My adventurous brother and his sweet wife took a leap of faith, to live out their dreams, and retired to Mexico several years ago. Since being there, they have learned new customs, volunteered countless hours saving the sea turtles, and have made many friends in their new community. They have had great adventures and lots of challenges, but their greatest was last week when we almost lost Sean. He had a massive pulmonary embolism. Below is my sis-in-law's description of what happened. They have no medical insurance in Mexico, and the hospital required payment at the time of service. Their funds have been completely wiped out, and will have more medical bills as he recovers. If you can contribute, I know they would be eternally grateful.

"Thanksgiving doesn’t have any meaning down here in Mexico, unless you count all the turkey dinners served by local restaurants to visiting U.S. vacationers. This Thanksgiving was just another day until Sean almost died. I heard the plastic bowl Sean uses to feed the agoutis hit the stairs outside. I was inside feeding the cats. I ran outside and found Sean on the landing of our stairs, unconscious.

A series of fortunate events happened next. Our friend Renee, who lives in the next town over, was home (she wasn’t supposed to be) and she answered the phone (without recognizing my number.) We knew the ambulance couldn’t find us in the jungle, so we got Sean, now awake but shocky, to Renee’s house. The ambulance took us to Tulum. They pumped him full of the drugs he needed, got him stable, and took us by ambulance to Playa del Carmen, a bigger hospital (45 minutes away) that had cardiologists and an ICU.

Sean was seen by three cardiologists. He had a massive pulmonary embolism and “should have died.” They said the treatment in Tulum saved his life. He was put in ICU and on blood thinners, obviously. Yesterday they had to do a catheterization to clear the parts of the clot that had not been resolved by the medication. 2 nights in ICU, 5 nights in the hospital, 3 CT scans, 2 ultra sounds, and 10 pages of other medical bills later, but today he is home!

Thank you, everyone, who contributed to Sean’s existence. Thanksgiving will never be the same."
