A little about Romeo- he is my shorkie who is about to be 11 years old. He is my bestest friend! He loves sun bathing, cuddling with me and visiting friends and family. He loves other dogs who are chill (just like him). He has such a beautiful personality and has shown me love I never knew existed.

A little intro to Romeo’s health-

He does have multiple preexisting conditions. This comes with the type of dog he is and age. He has a collapsed trachea, heart murmur on both sides, a small cancer spot on his right leg and enlarged heart. He is being treated currently for his collapsed trachea.

Last night on May 19th, 2025 I had to bring Romeo into the urgent care vet for frequent vomitting and showing signs of being extremely lethargic. He would try to drink water but threw that up immediately after. He has no interest in food either. He was shaking for about 7+ hours. When we arrived to the urgent care, he still was shaking and throwing up. They completed the following tests-

•Physical exam- showed signs of being lethargic and dehydrated. No other concerns that they could find (this excludes his pre-existing conditions)

• Pancreas test (to show any signs of pancreatitis). Luckily- this test came back negative and he is healthy in that area.

• Radiograph of his organs. His liver shows to be very enlarged and there is an underlying condition that we still need to test for.

They treated him for vomitting yesterday. He was given two medications for his nausea and is now on a bland food diet.

Unfortunately, these two test alone were $1,154.68 and that is all I could afford.. my sweet Romeo means everything to me. I created this go fund me page for him in hopes of raising the necessary funds to give Romeo the best chance at a comfortable and healthy life. The first test that we need to do is his liver test. Time is very sensitive right now.

*UPDATE 5/20/2025- 12:30pm Romeo will not eat or drink. His shaking has subsided but he is still very tired and not very alert. The vet said this will be normal and to monitor him as closely as possible for the next 24 hours.

*UPDATE 5/20/2025 4:56- Romeo drank water and ate dinner! YAY! We are visiting the vet tonight at 7pm for a recheck. At this time he could vomit up at any point. We need him to stay hydrated and keep food down.

*UPDATE 5/21/2025 7:00am- Romeo had diarrhea this morning with bright red blood. It looks like he might have ate something and it’s coming out!

5/21/2025 10:31am- Romeo has finally eaten a little bit of boiled beef! Yay! He will not drink water so I am bringing him in for fluids today.

*UPDATE- Romeo was seen at the vet this morning. He got bloodwork done. His liver is slightly concerning. They are keeping him for the day to get fluids in him.

*UPDATE 5/22/2025- 1:03pm. I received a phone call from the vet that roros heart stopped. They asked me if I wanted them to try to revive him and I said yes. I got a call at 1:07pm and they were able to revive him! He was at the vet all day yesterday with fluids my baby is alive!!

*UPDATE- 5/22/2025 3:30pm- I got a call from the vet that they were able to get him stable with fluids! They took another blood test and the results were fairly well! He is coming home with me tonight

*UPDATE 5/22/2024- 7:00pm- Romeo finally ate and is drinking water. I’ll be holding him close tonight and getting ready for our 8am appointment tomorrow morning!

*UPDATE- 5/23/2025 8:00am-

I brought Romeo to the vet this morning for more fluids today. I will pick him up at 5pm. :-)
