Help My Best Friend Luisa Fight Cancer Again. Bring Her Hope

Hi everyone,

My name is Daniela, and I’m reaching out with a heart full of love and urgency for someone incredibly dear to me — my best friend, Luisa Jimenez. Luisa and I have been bonded since birth, and though life took us to different parts of the world, our friendship has remained unbreakable. In 2021, after two decades apart, we reunited. I never imagined that just a year later, she would begin the hardest battle of her life — not once, but now, for a second time.

Luisa’s journey began in 2022, shortly after she moved from Colombia to Spain, filled with dreams and determination. She hoped to grow her graphic design business and build a new life full of promise and opportunity. Luisa is one of the most talented, creative, and inspiring people I know. But instead of launching her career, she was met with unimaginable news: ovarian cancer at just 28 years old.

In a new country, far from her mother and everything familiar, she faced a terrifying diagnosis with courage and grace. With her loving husband Juan by her side and her loyal dog Kiara as constant comfort, she underwent major surgery to remove her uterus and ovaries, and began grueling chemotherapy. Despite the sickness and isolation, she never gave up hope — and in 2023, we celebrated her remission.

But that moment of hope was painfully short-lived. Just days after learning she was cancer-free, Luisa received devastating news: her beloved father had been diagnosed with cancer. Before she could fully embrace her own healing, she was plunged into fresh heartache. Not long after, her father passed away. What should have been a time of celebration turned into a season of grief — a bittersweet chapter marked by loss when joy felt just within reach.

And then, heartbreakingly, the cancer returned. Just as she was healing and finding her footing again, the cancer returned — more aggressively, more widespread. It spread to her intestines and breast. She has since endured three major surgeries, one lasting 13 hours, to remove parts of her intestine, a blood vessel, gallbladder, and more. She now lives with an ostomy, receives weekly chemotherapy, and has needed multiple blood transfusions.

Luisa has spent the last three years fighting for her life, and during this time, she hasn’t been able to work. She had to sell the very laptop that was once her creative tool, her way of expressing herself and earning a living. Her husband even sold his own laptop to try to keep them afloat. Juan works tirelessly, but the weight of it all is too much to carry alone. Her mother has left everything behind in Colombia to stay in Spain and care for her daughter.

Now, more than ever, they need help.

We are raising funds to:

• Help Luisa purchase a vehicle so she can travel to and from the hospital in comfort after chemotherapy sessions, which are currently done via painful and exhausting train rides.

• Cover mounting medical bills and personal expenses that have built up over years of treatments.

• Replace her laptop so that, when she’s well enough, she can return to her passion and begin working again.

Mi nombre es Daniela, y hoy les hablo con el corazón en la mano para pedir ayuda por alguien muy especial para mí: mi mejor amiga, Luisa Jiménez. Luisa y yo hemos sido amigas desde que nacimos. Aunque la vida nos llevó por caminos diferentes y estuvimos separadas durante más de 20 años, nuestro vínculo nunca se rompió. En 2021, finalmente nos reencontramos, pero jamás imaginé que solo un año después, ella estaría enfrentando la batalla más dura de su vida… y ahora, por segunda vez.

Luisa comenzó su camino en 2022, cuando se mudó de Colombia a España con grandes sueños: quería expandir su emprendimiento en diseño gráfico y construir una nueva vida llena de oportunidades. Es una diseñadora increíblemente talentosa, llena de creatividad y pasión. Pero poco después de llegar, recibió una noticia devastadora: fue diagnosticada con cáncer de ovario a los 28 años.

Estando en un país nuevo, lejos de su madre y de todo lo que conocía, Luisa enfrentó esta enfermedad con una fuerza admirable. Gracias al apoyo de su esposo Juan y la compañía incondicional de su perrita Kiara, se sometió a cirugías para remover sus ovarios y su útero, además de comenzar un duro tratamiento de quimioterapia. A pesar del dolor físico y emocional, nunca perdió la esperanza. Y en 2023, celebramos que estaba libre de cáncer.

Sin embargo, esa alegría duró muy poco. Apenas días después de saber que estaba libre de cáncer, Luisa recibió otra noticia devastadora: su padre había sido diagnosticado con cáncer. Lo que debió ser un tiempo de alivio y esperanza se transformó en duelo y tristeza. Poco después, su papá falleció. Fue un momento agridulce, en el que no pudo celebrar su propia recuperación porque estaba enfrentando una nueva y profunda pérdida.

Y como si eso no fuera suficiente, el cáncer regresó. Esta vez, de forma más agresiva y en distintas partes de su cuerpo: el intestino y el seno izquierdo. Ha tenido que pasar por tres cirugías intensivas, una de ellas de 13 horas. Le han removido el útero, los ovarios, parte del intestino, una vena, la vesícula biliar, y ahora vive con una ostomía. Ha recibido transfusiones de sangre y continúa con quimioterapias semanales.

Durante estos tres años de lucha, Luisa no ha podido trabajar. Para poder cubrir algunos gastos médicos y personales, tuvo que vender su computadora —la misma con la que creaba sus diseños— y su esposo también vendió la suya. Juan trabaja sin descanso para sostenerlos, pero la carga es abrumadora. Su mamá dejó todo en Colombia para estar con ella en España, cuidándola cada día.

Hoy necesitan de nosotros más que nunca.

Estamos recaudando fondos para:

• Comprar un vehículo que le permita ir al hospital de forma más cómoda después de sus sesiones de quimioterapia, ya que actualmente viaja en tren, lo cual le resulta doloroso y agotador.

• Cubrir los gastos médicos y personales acumulados durante estos años.

• Adquirir una nueva computadora para que, cuando su salud lo permita, pueda volver a trabajar en lo que tanto ama.

Cualquier donación, sin importar la cantidad, no es solo un apoyo económico. Es un acto de amor, de esperanza, y una luz en medio de la oscuridad para Luisa y su familia.

Luisa no es solo una paciente de cáncer. Es una luchadora, una artista con un talento extraordinario, una esposa amorosa, y una persona con un corazón inmenso. Tiene tantos sueños por cumplir y tanto que ofrecerle al mundo.
