Help support me in providing a safe space for my children

Hi, my name is Jalisa. I’m a single mother of two. I have a bright and resilient 9 year old son with sickle cell disease, and a high spirited 3 year old daughter.

Saturday, May 17th at 12:40am, a bullet entered our living room, a space where my children rest, play, and usually feel safe. While another bullet striked the outside porch and many others around the surrounding area. By God’s grace, we’re safe and alive. But our sense of safety has been deeply shaken, and I know I have to get us out immediately. It’s been a blessing but this dwelling space has run its course. My son fears going back home as we decided to come stay at a hotel for a few. A stable environment is crucial for his health.

I’ve been doing everything I can to push forward as a single mother and the primary provider of my children. It’s quite the challenge to get over the financial hump and move into a safer, more stable environment while being the sole caretaker for my son, as well.

I’m raising funds to help us relocate to a safer neighborhood, a place where my children can rest without fear, and where I can rebuild with some peace of mind.

This isn’t easy to ask but after what happened today, I have no choice but to ask for support and reach out. If you feel moved to give or even just to share, it would be appreciated so that we can quickly gather options to relocate as soon as possible.
