We just found out through social media that my aunt — who sells tamales every morning to support her family — was taken by ICE. We never got a call. We had to learn about it from strangers online.
She’s one of the kindest, hardest-working women you’ll ever meet. She’s not a threat, she’s not a criminal — she’s someone who wakes up before sunrise every day to work, just to afford her insulin and medication that keep her alive.
Now she’s being forced to start over in Mexico with nothing — no home, no job, and no access to the medical care she desperately needs. Our family is doing everything we can, but she needs help to afford her insulin, basic needs, and to rebuild her life from scratch.
