Hurricane Melissa has left unimaginable devastation across Jamaica — and my family has been among those hit the hardest. My 96-year-old grandfather and my aunt lost their home completely in the storm. Everything they owned was destroyed in an instant.

My grandfather, who is elderly and battling ongoing medical issues, depends on my aunt for his daily care. In the chaos of the hurricane, they were forced to flee for safety, leaving behind everything. They are now staying at a small hotel just to have access to basic necessities — food, power, and clean water.

Their community in Montego Bay remains impassable. Roads are blocked, homes are destroyed, and there is still no clear timeline for when help or government aid will reach them. My aunt is doing her best to stay strong for my grandfather, but the emotional and financial burden is overwhelming.

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help them with immediate relief — covering their temporary shelter, meals, and medical needs — and eventually to help rebuild their home once it’s safe to return.
