Today, our family experienced an unimaginable tragedy. My aunt’s apartment / building  that she lived in for 28 years was destroyed in a devastating fire. She, her daughter, and their beloved cat were able to make it out safely — and for that, we are incredibly grateful — but they lost everything they owned.

This loss is especially heartbreaking because my aunt is still grieving the death of her husband, who passed away last year. Since his passing, life has been incredibly difficult emotionally and financially as she has been trying to put the pieces back together. Unfortunately, during this time, she no longer had renters insurance, and now this fire has left them with absolutely nothing as they begin a new year.

Clothes, furniture, personal belongings, and irreplaceable memories are all gone. They are starting over from scratch.

We don’t usually ask for help, and we truly don’t want to impose on anyone — especially knowing how hard times are for so many — but right now, any amount, no matter how small, would mean the world to this family. Your kindness will help provide basic necessities and a sense of stability during this overwhelming time.
