Please Help My 81-Year-Old Father with His Needs

Donation protected
Hello! First and foremost, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this. This fundraiser is being made for my amazing father who is 81 years old and desperately needs some help. My name is Jen, his daughter.

My Dad, John, has always been the most loving, caring, big hearted and supportive father. I have wonderful childhood memories of him and my Mom. My Dad, even at his age and all his health issues, is still working. He just totally amazes me and those who know him. But my Dad really needs help. Help that I unfortunately cannot help him with as I battle many health problems. I do the best I can and my very supportive son helps as well. The two of them have always been extremely close as grandfather and grandson.

My father lost his wife, my Mom (another amazing parent), in April 2023. She had been sick for awhile but her passing was unexpected and crushed him to his soul. They were soulmates and married 55 years at the time. Since then, my Dad has battled life emotionally, physically, healthwise and financially.

2025 was an extremely hard year for him. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had multiple strokes and a heart infection. We almost lost my poor Dad a few times. After the first stroke, he was in the regular hospital and then hospitalized in rehab for a month. He then came home and did outpatient and home PT, and he had a PICC line in for the infection. I admistered medication in it everyday for a month and he just suffered so much it was absolutely heartbreaking. He had ER visits in between and was even hospitalized again through the whole ordeal.

He went from fully and totally independent and working to depending on myself, my son and others to help him get around to all his appointments, take him to and from work (because he just won't stop working), go to get groceries, all shopping needs, take care of his house, etc. He went into severe depression because he could not handle all of the drastic changes and having to depend on others. Again, he never asks for a single thing.

He never was able to recover enough to drive, he is just too weak on the right side. So he had to have his truck that he loved so much hauled away. It was not worth anything to sell. His truck was his ticket to being independent. It broke him, it broke all of us. I have a picture posted as hes walking away as they tow it. It is beyond heartbreaking.

Now, he struggles to pay bills and desperately needs home repairs that he cannot afford. Medical and other bills have set him behind. He has too much pride to ask for help (thats how that generation is). So I thought that I would give this a try because he has run out of resources. He has worked his whole life and continues to even though he is really slowing down. He just won't stop, but his body is saying otherwise. The strokes really took a toll on him.

The house he had built for his family back in the 1970's is in serious need of repairs. He doesn't want to ask for help but he desperately needs it. We cant watch him stress constantly about himself, money and fixing his home anymore. We cant handle it.

If my Dad were to sell his home that he worked so, so hard to pay off, half, yes half would go to taxes. Its just so sad and sickening for a 81 year man to not be able to one, retire and enjoy life a little and two, struggle to pay for home repairs and other bills. He does as much as he can independently but between his age and health he needs help very bad.

We have now discovered that squirrels have taken over his attic. The wind blew the old cover off the vent and squirrels have made their way inside. He has no money to hire someone to help with this mess. There are also some mice in the house that we cant seem to get under control also. So an exterminator is something he could definitely use before things grt even worse.

His driveway desperately needs repaired and sealed (it is over 500 feet long), his roof, the finished basement needs alot of work due to age, mold, pets...my sons old truck that he uses to drive my Dad around in needs work, the electric in the whole house has recently started acting up...it just goes on and on. This is the beautiful house that I grew up in. This has been so unbelievably stressful and now his health is declining some more with some of the stroke symptoms returning like slurred speech, more off balance, neurological problems and weakness. But he stil wont stop getting up in the morning and pushing himself to go to work. He uses a cane to get around and again my son drives him. I cannot drive at this time due to severe health issues. My son Tyler is a huge help. He is seen in the pictures with his Pop Pop along his side this whole journey.

In regards to the vehicle that we have, it is also very hard for him to get in and out of. I would love for him to have something where he could get in and out easier. Something more reliable for him and my son. My Dad struggles to get in and out, manover around in it and cannot sit comfortably. But most importantly, paying for home repairs and being able to help him financially would be an absolute dream come true.

Any donation would help, anything. My main goal as his daughter is to surprise my Dad with the funds to be able to fix his home and pay some bills. My second goal is to upgrade my sons truck for my Dad. If you only knew how amazing this gentleman truly is. He cares and has always helped others and animals. He is the best father and grandfather ever.

My ultimate dream is to have a small farm one day where my Dad is finally able to financially retire and enjoy life before he leaves this earth and goes to be with my Mom. He should, at his age, and how hard he has worked his entire life, be able to sit on a porch in a rocking chair and enjoy the nature he loves watching and farm animals roam. He deserves this more than anyone I know. His one passion is eagles. He loves watching them and even feeds them where we live. Well he uses to when he was independent and did what he loved. His pleasure in life, like myself, is helping others and animals.

It will take some miracles to make this happen and I surely dont expect a thing. If you cannot donate, I would greatly appreciate if you would SHARE this please. I have faith, and miracles happen everyday. Please help me help my Dad and take some stress off of him. The stress is taking such a toll on him, we see it everyday. I cant express the gratitude that my family would have.

Thank you for reading this.

God bless,
Jen
