Help My 4-Year-Old Son Fight Autism

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Xin. I never imagined I would be here, asking for help like this—but today, I am reaching out as a mother who is doing everything she can to fight for her child’s future.

My son is four years old. He is a gentle, sweet little boy with a calm heart and endless energy. He loves dancing to music, painting colorful pictures, and running around with excitement and joy. But behind his beautiful smile are struggles most people cannot see.

He has great difficulty with language, communication, social interaction, and expressing his needs. Often, he becomes deeply focused on the things that interest him and seems trapped in his own little world. Many times, it is hard to get him to look at me, respond to me, or even smile back at me. When he cannot express himself, he often cries or has emotional outbursts because of the frustration and confusion he feels inside. As his mother, watching him struggle so hard just to communicate breaks my heart every single day.

In May 2025, he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Global Developmental Delay. Even before the diagnosis, we already knew something was different—he struggled to understand words, to speak, to connect with the world around him. While other children were laughing, talking, and playing, my son was quietly living in his own world.

As his mother, the pain of watching him struggle is impossible to fully describe.
But I also know this: there is hope.

Doctors and therapists have told me that the years between ages 3 and 6 are a critical window for intervention. With intensive support—behavioral therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and developmental programs—children like my son can learn to communicate, connect with others, and live more independently. Every hour of therapy matters. Every bit of progress matters.

And yet, I am facing this battle completely alone.

I am a single mother and the sole provider for my son. Earlier in 2025, after a difficult situation, his father left Canada and has since cut off all contact with us. He has not responded to any messages and has not acknowledged our son’s diagnosis. Since then, it has been just the two of us—me trying to hold everything together emotionally and financially.

I work as hard as I can, but after covering food and basic living expenses, there is almost nothing left. The cost of therapy is overwhelming. Government support helps, but it is far from enough to provide the level of intervention my son urgently needs.
Every day that passes is time we can never get back.

I am not asking for a perfect life. I am not asking for more than we truly need. I am only asking for a chance—a chance to give my son the support he needs during these irreplaceable early years. A chance for him to learn to speak, to express his needs, to socialize with other children.

If you can help, even a small amount, it would mean more than words can express. Your kindness will go directly toward therapy and support that could truly change my son’s life.

And if you are unable to donate, simply sharing our story would help us more than you know.

From one mother’s heart to yours—thank you for reading, for caring, and for giving my son a chance.

With all my gratitude,
Xin
