My 3 year old nephew, Cobain, had a lump that was spotted on his lymph node in his neck around February of this year. After the first test, they found a growth on the lymph node they were going to monitor, and after several more visits they found a mass growing under the first one. It was decided he needed to get surgery to remove the mass and have it biopsied. For both the tests and the surgery combined, my sister and her husband will have to pay a deductible and out of pocket limit combined worth of $10,500. She will also have to miss a week to 2 weeks of work with no pay to help care for Cobain while he recovers, which is roughly $1,000-$2,000 in lost wages.
