After a transformative year spent walking alongside survivors of domestic abuse on their healing journeys, teaching a Music for Activism course to underserved student artists, and giving selflessly to communities still healing from the legacy of apartheid South Africa, Mwila has been accepted to Oglethorpe University to pursue African Studies and Women & Gender Studies, with a concentration in Urban Leadership and Social Change.
"This past year has been beautiful, but far from easy," Mwila reflects. "I was challenged in ways I never expected. I began this gap year hoping to empower women, but quickly realized that true empowerment can't be imposed. I let the voices and needs of South African women guide me. From that listening and intentional inquisition, The Wholeful Healing Journey was born. Building it from the ground up revealed to me a deeper calling: serving marginalized African women."
Mwila is ready to take the next step in her journey—from grassroots changemaker to academically equipped leader—but she can't do it alone.
Your support can help Mwila access the education she needs to amplify her impact. By contributing to her college fund, you're not just investing in one student—you're investing in a future where justice, healing, and leadership go hand in hand.
