My name is Muwafeg Abuhamra, and I never imagined I would have to write something like this.
At approximately 7:00 a.m. on July 29, 2026, our family home caught fire. In what felt like only moments, the place where we lived, slept, gathered, and made memories was overcome by flames and smoke.
There was no time to think about our belongings. There was no time to save the things we had worked so hard for. My only thought was getting my family out alive.
With the fire blocking our way, I had to get my family to an upper window and push them out to safety before getting myself out. It was terrifying, and it is a moment I will never forget.
By the grace of God, my family survived. For that, I will be grateful for the rest of my life.
Our Story Was Covered by the News, The fire and its aftermath were captured in local news coverage. Seeing the footage is difficult for our family, but it shows the reality of what happened to our home and what we are now trying to recover from.
Please watch and share the news coverage of our family's fire:
When the fire was over, we were left looking at the devastating reality that we had lost nearly everything. Our home, our belongings, our everyday necessities, and the sense of security we once had were suddenly gone.
As a husband and father, it is difficult to put into words what it feels like to see your family go through something like this. I want more than anything to give them a safe place to sleep, a sense of normalcy again, and a home where we can begin healing from what happened.
I am asking for help as we begin the long process of rebuilding our lives and repairing our home.
Donations will go toward fire damage repairs, rebuilding, replacing essential household items and belongings, and helping my family regain a safe and stable place to call home.
We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate. If you cannot give financially, sharing our fundraiser and the news story would mean just as much to us. Every share, every prayer, every kind word, and every contribution helps remind us that we are not facing this difficult road alone.
We escaped that fire with our lives, and that is something no amount of money could ever replace. Now we are trying to rebuild everything that comes after.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story, for caring about my family, and for helping us take the first steps toward rebuilding our home and our lives.
With gratitude,
Muwafeg Abuhamra and Family
