Help Mustafa's family get from Gaza to Canada

Donation protected
My name is Galadriel Brady. I'm an American computer scientist who spent the summer in Gaza teaching high schoolers with the program YouthCode-Gaza, and I'm helping Azza Musleh write the text for this fundraiser on behalf of one of my students, Mustafa Saleh.

Mustafa is a very talented student who is full of potential, and he's now experiencing unimaginably devastating conditions. His house was destroyed and he's staying in a tent. His brother's store was also destroyed, and he has no financial support whatsoever. Here is his message:

"I am Mustafa Saleh, a 16 year old boy from Gaza. I am in Arafat secondary school for gifted students, and I had a lot of extracurricular activities. I used to go to TOEFL classes every day afterschool, and on Fridays I had YouthCode classes where we study programming and design-thinking. I am also enrolled in the extracurricular Horizons academy where we take courses and do various activities in order to improve our skills and be ready for college life.

I have a lot of dreams. I hope one day to be an international master at chess and to represent my country and myself in championships. I hope to study computer science in one of the world's best universities. My dream school is MIT, and that’s why I’m studying programming and TOEFL.

When the war started, we thought that it would be like any other one. I personally thought it would end in few weeks, with minor damages, but unfortunately it has been one of a kind. My school, my neighborhood, and my house have all been destroyed. Around 20 members of my extended family have been killed, some of my friends have also been killed, and I don't know if many others are alive or not.

During this war we were displaced several times: first we had to flee our home because the area we were in was considered a war zone, so we went to our grandfather’s house. We were there for only three days before it became a very dangerous area as well. We went south because it was supposedly safer, but after some weeks the place we were in was threatened so we ran away from there, too.

Now my family and I are in a camp with no electricity, food, water, access to toilet, or even money to evacuate from Gaza with. Thank you for reading my message and please, help."

Mustafa’s only hope now is to evacuate from Gaza and join his aunt Azza in Canada where he can return to school and continue pursuing his goals with the special visa program that Canada will launch on Dec. 21st, 2023. However, Canada will not provide any kind of financial assistance.

The money raised from this fundraiser will be withdrawn directly by Azza, who will use it to secure border crossing fees, accommodation in Egypt during visa issuing, airfare, house rental, school supplies, and all other living expenses for Mustafa and his immediate family.

For those donating from the US: Please note that the goal amount is in CAD, since Azza will be withdrawing funds into her canadian bank account. Please keep the exchange rate in mind when donating -- $10 CAD is $7.50 USD

Thank you so much for any support!
