Hello, This is Raga, a British Sudanese running this campaign on behalf of Mussab. Thank you for all your help in advance. I will be receiving the money on his behalf in my UK account and delivering it to him when completed. I am based in the UK but currently visiting Cairo.
Raga
Hello,
My name is Mussab Khairi, known better by my nick name Sanjoo. I am an active member of the Sudanese Resistance Committees. I was injured in March 2022 during a protest against the October 2021 coup. Two yeas prior, me and millions of Sudanese youth from all backgrounds and walks of life got together to challenge the dictatorship of the Islamist regime of Omer Albashir. After a long struggle at a high cost, we managed to dispose of him in 2019, only for another coup to cut short our dreams of democratic change in 2021.
We again took to the streets to protest against the new wave of military rule, it was during
these events that i was severely injured.
In an unfair and unequal standoff between the armed police and peaceful protestors, I stepped in to mediate the extreme use of violence against unarmed young members of the RCs. In response to my attempted peaceful engagement with police, one of the armed officers shot me with a Maurice shotgun at close range. 3 fires at close range, one hit my stomach, the other my upper shot and third and most damaging hit the left eye. The small silver bullet is still lodged in the back end of the head, causing paralysis on the right side of the face. After i collapsed i was picked up by the protestors and taken to the hospital where i lay in a comma for a month. An operation in Khartoum managed to removed the bullets from my stomach, after which i was hurriedly transferred to Egypt for more extensive surgery.
In Egypt I underwent neurological surgery to reattach the blood vein to the right eye to save it. They also attempted to remove the bullet that went through my upper chest, close to my spinal cord, but found it too risky to move. It remains there. I went back to Sudan after these extensive surgeries with a follow up appointment scheduled for mid July 2022. Upon my arrival to Khartoum I was detained by a group of armed personnel from the RSF (militia ) and military intelligence. I was unlawfully detailed without trail for 9 months despite my health condition which deteriorated quickly while in prison.
I was released a week before the war in mid April 2023. Ever since I have been trying to get the medical treatment i was denied during my unlawful prison period. I arrived in Cairo 10 months after my release, as the war made any travel plans almost impossible.
The first meeting with the doctor revealed the reopening of the head vein wound which will now require three corrective surgeries without which I cant survive.
Thank you
Mussab.
